Just an experiment, playing with “Boiling*” as a stylistic element.
The musician character was the first to appear as I was interested in looking at music as the centre of this piece.
The sound was played by myself on my vintage Eco acoustic.

Earlier I’d experimented with other musician based animation tests, below is the banjo player…

*BOILING ~ this is the shimmering or wobbling effect often seen in hand drawn animation where the lines have been traced or light-boxed over and over in a sequence of drawings.
Originally the effect may have occurred due just to the basic mechanics of trying and failing to copy lines exactly whilst creating a rapid sequence of frames, later it came to be an effect introduced deliberately as a stylistic feature both in traditional drawn animation and in digital and computer generated animation – the random fluctuations in line quality making the animation look hand drawn, the effect is particularly useful in bringing scenes to life in which a still frame was previously used (which would have jarred visually), the relatively minimal movement of the frame agitated into “life” by boiling.
A good example of this technique can be found in the work of Bob Godfrey and Rhubarb & Custard (1974)
